Well i suppose we should just talk about the cosmonauts already.
Jeremy Geddes is a painter from Melbourne, and he’s pretty fantastic, also in the literal sense of that word. His paintings usually look like photos, which is itself a bit unsettling/transportive (transportative? bahh..). Add to that his subject matter, and i get that weird unbalanced feeling that probably indicates genius. His ‘Cosmonaut” series is scenes from some parallel time where things look pretty bleak– abandoned buildings, no life save a few pigeons, etc.– and a lone cosmonaut floats in the middle of it all. Sometimes even he looks dead (see: Heat Death).
These paintings make me feel crazy in the best possible way. Check him out, buy his prints, elect him earth president.
